Stories around the State - Historical News
USA Waterski Nationals completed October 16, 2016 and two of Georgia's own skied to new bests, and then some!!
David Carter (of Dallas, Ga.) and Janet Paulsen (of Acworth, Ga.) let by team leader Bill Furbish had a very successful week on the waters of Skyview Lake in Harmony, North Carolina.
David and Janet are both members of the Atlanta Water Ski Club in Acworth. They have been training at least 3 times per week with Bill and other skiers this summer in hopes of a great showing at Nationals. David exceeded his expectations and skied new bests in both Slalom and Tricks. To top all of that, David was selected the USA World's Ski Team that will compete in Sydney, Australia in 2017! Congratulations! Sounds like David will be skiing this winter to prep.
This is Janet's first tournament. She began skiing this year at a Shepherd Clinic held at Lake Allatoona where she met Bill and others. New goals were set and off she went. After learning to ski this year, she went on to earn a Bronze medal in slalom and a Silver in Tricks! (At Nationals!!) She now has her goals set to make the USA Ski Team for 2019. Apparently her piers believe she will do it, at the awards and dinner banquet, Janet was awarded the honor as the Most Promising Newcomer!

Congratulations to the American Team that competed at the 2016 Can-Am Games! Georgia's own Hayleigh Blair and Amanda Bryans for the Under 17 team and James Bryans for the under 14 team skied very well! I believe they are also selected to the Pan-Am Team Competition this winter! Good Luck Competitors!
Your 2016 Georgia Water Ski Hall of Fame Recipients! Congratulations Gentlemen!
The Bradshaw's are very busy people! Before moving out of state this summer, the had to stop by the banquet to pick up some hardware for the new house walls. We will miss you both, come back and ski us soon, will ya!?
Special Awards presented to some very deserving people!
Thank you Billy and Kim, Bob and Judy of Divorce Lake Ski Club for all your hard work to provide Georgia Skiers a ski site in 'back to back' years for 2015 and 2016! The Border Wars against Alabama for '16 was very cool, and I do love the shirt!
2015 Georgia State Water Ski Championships - These young skiers are champions today!
You may remember Linda Giddens delicious watermelon a couple years back. Judy Wilkinson has taken the watermelon gig to a new level at the banquet! You may also remember Jim Barron usually provides us with a spectacular photo each year. Once again, he did not disappoint! The watermelon eating contest did not fall short on the entertainment schedule. I do question the whole 'door prize' theme (Judy) when handing in the banquet ticket!?

Ski year 2014 News and Highlights
One exciting highlight from the tournament can be found on CNN.com. They share fantastic moments captured by the camera lense and post them in an artful gallery. Georgia's own Ally Brock (age 16) made that slideshow while competing on her slalom ski during Regionals. She skied very well with 1.5 buoys at 28' off the tow line.
In case you don't believe me, here is the proof! Way to go Ally, and awesome ski form!
